It also keeps track of daily vessels’ reporting for their position and performance and upon expiration of a voyage, the operations department arranges for the settlement of voyage accounting and collection of hire/freight and possible demurrages. It follows up the insurance covers either for Hull & Machinery or Protection & Indemnity (P&I) and keeps records of all hull, cargo or crew claims, arranging also for their settlement.
It is run by ex-Master Mariners with a long experience in sea and shore operations. Their professionalism contributes to the company's reputation as a successful and quality manager in the dry and wet cargo market and its members enjoy the respect and appreciation of both their colleagues and vessel crew. Maintaining the vessels in a high standard of upkeep is paramount to the department, ensuring cargoes are safely and efficiently transported, and the crew works in a safe environment.
The Operations Department also manages the Personnel and Purchasing Departments.
The Technical Department is involved with the proper monitoring and maintenance of mechanical parts and auxiliary equipment of vessels and makes sure that our vessels comply to Class Societies’ and Flag Rules and Regulations and that they are up to the standards required by Port State Control inspectors. Our company’s Superintendent Engineers pay frequent visits to the vessels to attest the condition of engines and the relevant inventory. Proper maintenance is achieved by daily monitoring of vessels’ performance and their surveys. In addition, the Technical Department closely follows up the vessels’ Certification (Trading and Class Certificates) and ensures that these are renewed timely.
The Technical department is run by people with both academic qualifications and seagoing experience. It is staffed by engineers and naval architects with substantial experience and expert knowledge in a wide range of technical matters.
The supply Department is burdened with the task of supplying vessels with the necessary provisions, stores, paints, lubricants, chemicals, and any other stores that may be needed. It ensures that the suppliers' performance is continuously evaluated in terms of quality and cost-effectiveness to determine their future assignment.
This Department ensures that crews are selected carefully, based on high standards, with their Certificates in place. All of our seafarers are fully certified in accordance with the latest STCW standards. Before embarkation to our vessels, all seamen participate in training programs in their countries to familiarize themselves with our Company’s policies and our Safety Management System (SMS) manuals. We always try to keep crew members who have already worked on board our vessels or the same type of vessels and are familiar with the company. In order to always select qualified crew we cooperate only with first class agencies and maintain a database of their performance.
